UNC Asheville student and faculty ensembles will take to two different stages on Sunday, April 6, at Isis Restaurant and Music Hall, 743 Haywood Road in West Asheville.

Faculty musicians Bill Bares, Brian Felix and Jacob Rodriguez will lead student ensembles in a variety of styles. All three perform regularly in Asheville area clubs and beyond; Bares regularly hosts the Isis Sunday Jazz Showcase featuring many of the area’s finest musicians.

The music begins in the Isis upstairs lounge with a 5 p.m. benefit performance featuring the young musicians of Youth At Jazz, an Asheville program providing jazz instruction and mentoring to middle and high school students. From 6-8 p.m., UNC Asheville musicians will take over, with a mix of faculty and student ensembles.

The music will move to the Isis main stage at 8 p.m. and continue until closing with performances by the UNC Asheville musicians of the Miles Davis Ensemble, the Saxophone Ensemble, the Scholarship Ensemble and the R&B/Stax Ensemble.

There is an $8 music charge for the public; UNC Asheville students will be admitted free. Isis takes dinner reservations at 828.575.2737. For those not dining, some seating is available on a first-come basis and there is no drink minimum. All ages are welcome.
