College for Seniors Registration is Now Open at OLLI, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville

The winter course catalog for the College for Seniors at UNC Asheville’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is now available online. All registrations received by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 15 will have equal opportunity for enrollment in the most popular courses. Paper copies of the catalog and in-person assistance with registration are also available at the Reuter Center on the UNC Asheville campus.

Course topics include history and hiking, the arts and culture, and academic exploration in the sciences and humanities. There are no tests, grades or credits. Most classes meet at the Reuter Center on UNC Asheville’s campus. Full course descriptions and dates are posted online at olliasheville.com/courses.

Registration will resume for the add/drop period on December 4 for remaining course slots. Some College for Seniors courses expected to be most popular include Arab Spring: From Bedouin Roots to 21st Century; Reading Mark Twain; 400 Years of Opera Staging; Art and the History of Renaissance Florence; Aristotle to Hawking: The History of Physics; and Beginning Mountain Dulcimer.

Winter classes range in duration from four to six weeks, beginning Monday, Jan. 8. The winter term course fee is $90 for an unlimited number of courses taught and taken by members of OLLI. Membership in OLLI is $75 annually and includes parking, borrowing privileges at UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library and other benefits.
