OLLI at UNC Asheville to Screen Original Short Comedy Films

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members Jim Hilderbrandt and Jamie Lomax will screen three original 5-minute comedy films – two commercial parodies and a micro-short comedy – at 7 p.m. Monday, July 21, in UNC Asheville’s Reuter Center. The screenings are free and open to the public.

Lomax and Hilderbrandt first met in Randy Robins’ Performing Stand-up Comedy course at OLLI. Lomax also met writer/director Toni Sherwood, who was assisting Robin in the class. The three later decided to produce the comedy films with local talent and crew.

The films, Online U, Love What You Do and High Regard represent Hilderbrandt’s screenwriting and directorial debut, and Lomax’s debut as executive producer. Lomax also appears on camera, along with local actors Stephanie Morgan, Miles Rice, Sean David Robinson, Donnie Dalton and Ellen Cheng, and comedians Grayson Morris, Adam Meie, Rigel Pawlak. Cinematography is by Paul Lewis Anderson.

These films contain adult material, including irreverent humor, sexual references and mention of drugs. A second screening will be held after a brief intermission, beginning at 8 p.m.

Robins’ Performing Stand-Up Comedy Course will again be offered this fall at OLLI. For more information visit OLLI's website, or call 828.251.6140.
