Reading by Author Peter Makuck on Feb. 23 at UNC Asheville


Author Peter Makuck will offer a free public reading of his works at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 in UNC Asheville’s Karpen Hall, in the Laurel Forum.

Makuck, the author of numerous books of poetry and prose, will mainly read from his 2016 short story collection “Wins and Losses” (Syracuse University Press).  He also recently published the poetry collection, “Mandatory Evacuation” (BOA Editions 2016). His poems, stories, and essays have appeared in The Georgia Review, The Hudson Review, Poetry, the Sewanee Review, The Nation, and The Gettysburg Review.

A two-time winner of the Brockman-Campbell Award, and the recipient of the Charity Randall Citation from the International Poetry Forum, Makuck is a distinguished professor emeritus at East Carolina University, where he founded and edited Tar River Poetry for thirty years.
