UNC Asheville’s Student Government Association delegation to the UNC Association of Student Governments (ASG) has been awarded the organization’s Delegation of the Year Award for 2016-17. The award is to be bestowed annually on one institution’s delegation for exemplary service to the ASG, to recognize those whose contributions have been instrumental to the success of the ASG. Representatives from all 17 UNC system institutions vote for the winner. This is the first time that UNC Asheville has won the award.
The 2016-17 delegates from UNC Asheville’s Student Government Association are Charlie White, student body president; Tim Hussey; student body vice president; Tatiana Miller, chief of staff; and Jasmine Dorlan, senior senator.
“We are very excited that the delegation was selected to receive this year’s award,” said Bethany Meighen, interim assistant vice president for academic and student affairs and association of student governments advisor for the UNC General Administration. “They are a tremendous group of student leaders and have been great assets to our ASG team.”
The Delegation of the Year Award was established in the 23rd Session of the Association and re-chartered in the 30th Session of the Association. The award will be presented at the annual John L. Sanders Student Advocate Award Dinner on Friday, April 21 at North Carolina Central University.
