UNC Asheville Offers Substitute Teacher Training Classes Beginning July 12


For those interested in substitute teaching, a series of classes will be offered on four consecutive Saturdays beginning July 12, by the Asheville Graduate Center at UNC Asheville. The classes satisfy requirements for employment as a substitute teacher in the Asheville City and Buncombe County school systems.

The four-session course will cover legal and ethical considerations involving substitute teaching, policy and procedures, age appropriate instruction strategies, behavioral management techniques and more.

Sessions will be held from 9 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Saturdays, July 12-August 2, at UNC Asheville. Cost is $95, plus textbook, for all four sessions. Participants completing the four sessions will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible for three continuing education units.
