UNC Asheville Offers Substitute Teacher Training Course Beginning Aug. 19

body:

Registration is now open for the Substitute Teacher/Effective Teacher Training course offered by UNC Asheville. The course is taught in a hybrid format which incorporates both on-line and on-campus coursework. Classes will meet on the campus of UNC Asheville on three Saturdays, Aug. 19 and 26, and Sept. 9.

Successful completion of this course leads to an Effective Teacher Training Certificate which is required for those without teaching licenses who seek substitute teaching duties in the Asheville City and Buncombe County school systems. This course also is approved for three continuing education units (CEUs).

Effective Teacher Training classes explore the legal and ethical considerations involving substitute teaching, policy and procedures, age appropriate instruction strategies, behavioral management techniques, and more.

The cost for the course is $95.00. The required textbook is Substitute Teacher Handbook, K-12, Ninth Edition, available in the UNC Asheville bookstore. The course will be offered again beginning in October.
