No Further Threat; Classes held as scheduled on Nov. 21
Police responded to a shooting late Thursday night, Nov. 20, at the Grove Apartments near UNC Asheville’s campus. Asheville Police advise there is no longer a need to shelter in place, but those living in Grove Apartments should avoid building 100 which is currently a crime scene.
One student suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital. The student’s family has been notified. The incident occurred off campus and the university is cooperating with the Asheville Police investigation. Any suspect information should be reported immediately to the Asheville Police Department by calling 911.
Counseling services are available to all students by calling (828) 251-6520. If counseling is needed outside of normal hours, students can call Campus Police at (828) 251-6710.
All classes and activities will be held as scheduled on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014.
