Exam Week Survival Guide: On-Campus Activities for Reading Day and Beyond

Don’t panic. 

It’s difficult not to stress out at the end of the semester, with final papers due and exams looming just around the corner. Keep calm; your university is here to support you throughout the week. Just take a deep breath and check out some of these events and programs around campus:

Reading Day Stress Relief Programs
12:30-3 p.m. 
Tuesday, Dec. 3

Time your study break on Reading Day so that you can visit Overlook Hall’s multipurpose room, where you’ll find healthy snacks and hot tea, therapy dogs, 15-minute chair massages and crafting opportunities. 

Running From Finals 5K
3 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 3

Stretch your legs with a race around campus before settling in for more studying. Registration begins at 2 p.m. in front of Governors Hall.

Ice Skating Rink
8-10 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 3

It’s an early snow day at UNC Asheville—indoors. Grab your skates and take a couple spins around Alumni Hall in Highsmith. 

Late-Night Exam Breakfast
8:30-10:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 4

Your brain needs fuel. Look up from the books and head to the dining hall for your favorite breakfast food (free!) served by UNC Asheville faculty and staff. Relieve some stress by belting out your favorite songs during karaoke. 

Therapy Dogs
Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5

Couldn’t tear yourself away from your studies to visit the therapy dogs on Reading Day? Not to worry. They’ll be waiting for you to come pet them in the Swannanoa Lobby of Highsmith.
