UNC Asheville Holds Arbor Day Celebration, April 28


UNC Asheville will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 28 with tree planting and tree tours through campus led by UNC Asheville’s Grounds Department. The activities are free and open to everyone.

  • 9 a.m. to noon – Tree planting project at Parking Lot P29 to replace trees removed during the construction projects
  • 10:30 a.m. – Around the Quad Tree Tour to highlight the diversity of tree species, starting at Ramsey Library
  • 1:30 p.m.  – Pollinator Tree Tour to learn about the “Meadows of the Sky,” starting at Ramsey Library
  • 2:30 p.m. – Tree smarts with demonstrations in pruning, planting, tree anatomy and tree climbing for maintenance – on the Quad
  • 3:30 p.m. – Ceremonial Tree Planting on the Quad

The observance of Arbor Day is one of five standards of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree Campus USA Program. During 2017, UNC Asheville will be working toward the “Tree Campus” designation.
